As mentioned in the introduction of the CBM group, the research focusses on supporting companies in implementing concepts of circular economy in their business processes. My role in the group is supporting the other members in designing and analyzing the different studies from a methodological perspective, contribute to the development of the protocol book and participate in writing the Erasmus + application.
Individual research: Behavioural Risk Management
With pursuing the different steps in the process of decision making regarding the initiation or continuation of international business (weighting risk and required return), management wishes to achieve an optimal course of the decision making process and an optimal outcome to the decision problem at hand. Unfortunately, individuals do not execute processes of judgment and decision making under risk in a normative way. Because of limited time, knowledge and computational capacities, individuals use heuristics and biases in their judgment and decision making. The disadvantages of using heuristics and biases is that they have a negative effects on the optimal execution of the process of judgment and decision making and normally result in a suboptimal execution of the process and final decision.
My research is aimed at gaining knowledge and understanding with respect to the influence and sub optimizing effects caused by the use of heuristics and biases in the different steps taken in the process of decision making in international business and the assessment process of country risk by Dutch companies.
Furthermore, my research is aimed at developing a protocol that will minimize the influence and sub optimizing effects caused by the use of heuristics and biases and, consequently, will optimize the process of decision making in international business and the assessment process of country risk by Dutch companies.
